I wrote this article for Principally Speaking, a journal co-published by the South Dakota Association of Elementary School Principals and the University of South Dakota, while holding the position of elementary principal/district curriculum director in the Brandon Valley School District, which is next to Sioux Falls, serving approximately 2,300 students during my tenure.
